Enabling water to be used to irrigate land that is used to supply the increased demand of food, as a result of drought (surplus crops will be sold to offset operational costs).
Water will be pumped to the tank from the river and from a tube well, when the river is dry. Retention of water will be increased and soil erosion controlled by using contour trench cultivation.
Vegfam's contribution is a part of a larger Alternative Rural Development Strategy, that is recreating sustainable local economies through a culture based project.
